VICTORY OVER CANCER

The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano with one goal in mind: to achieve Victory Over Cancer°. 100% of direct donations to the V Foundation go to research, an endowment covers administrative expenses.

The V Foundation has awarded more than $353 million in cancer research grants. And cancer research is working. Since the early 1990s, the overall cancer death rate has decreased by 33% - 4.1 million lives saved.

Our partnership with the V Foundation raises money for the Dick Vitale Pediatric Cancer Research Fund. The V Foundation has awarded over $84 million in pediatric cancer research grants. Dick Vitale continues to be a champion for the V Foundation’s pediatric cancer research efforts, and support for his fund is essential as less than 5% of the National Cancer Institute budget is directed to pediatric cancer. 85% of children (0-14) and 87% of adolescents (15-19) with cancer now survive 5 years or more. Overall, this is a huge increase since the mid-1970s, when the 5-year survival rate was about 58%.
